What are the Gospels?
The Gospels are the teachings of Jesus Christ recorded by the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Which version do we use?
The version of the Gospel we use is taken from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' website, which uses the New American Bible, a Roman Catholic version of the Bible.
What is the liturgical calendar?
The year is divided around Easter.
The Roman Catholic Church associates with each day a passage of the Gospel in order to recall the life of Christ over the span of one year.
By doing so, the Church provides the opportunity to become more familiar with the Gospel while engaging in prayer on a daily basis.
